Energy Efficiency:
We use solar energy for heating water. We
use terra-cotta tiles moderates the
temperature and help us avoid the use of
heater.

Social practices:
We offer a complimentary visit to
all our guest to the Mannan tribal colony to visit
the tribal museum and interact with the
tribes. We also try support the community
financially by promoting the hand made
products made by them.

The helpers for our homestay are local
villagers and we also make sure most of the
raw items are bought locally so that the
local community benefits for our homestay.
We actively involved in Voluntourism
practices. We organize teaching classes for
tribal schools, awareness for tribal forest
guides and agri- horti culture awareness to
villagers.

Recycling: We try to avoid maximum plastic in our property.
We have a wormicompost unit for waste food
items and use the compost for our
vegitable garden. We encourage our guest to use paper
bags and follow eco tourism principles.
Organic
Farming: For cooking we use the vegetable
from our home garden. If we dont have sufficient
quantity, we buy it from a nearby organic farm.
We provide free visit to our guests to the farm
and promote the concept of organic farming.
Water conservation:
We avoid the use of bathtubs to avoid the
wastage of water.

Wildlife:
Since Periyar is known for the wildlife, the
awareness for preserving is given maximum
priority. We are actively involved in the
Clean – Green Kumily project, which involves
awareness classes of cleanliness and
planting of trees and flowering plants at
the road sides. We mention to our guest not
to carry plastic items when they are going
for forest bound activity. We have variety
of books in our reading room about the
wildlife at our locality. We believe that
this awareness will give our guest the
importance of preserving them.
