At Koshys we offer the experience more than just the comfortable rooms and quite ambience.

To introduce myself, I am Rev. Dr. Zachariah Koshy. I've spend my whole life in the ministry and I've been travelling around the world. I decided to spend my retirement life in this quite village of Periyar.  I fell in love with the fresh air, loving villagers and pleasant climate. Since then I got involved in the local problems and spend my time counseling and opening new opportunities for the villagers. 

After we bought this land at Periyar, me and my wife Remani, decided to convert it into a homestay. We found this to be an employment opportunity for the villagers. We have two helpers at the homestay. We buy milk from the local farm, vegetables from the neighboring organic farm, hire local vehicles and promote guided activities. We are associated with the Periyar Eco Tourism Foundation to promote forest bound activities thereby creating income for the Mannan Tribal Guides. The forest department has trained a team of poachers into forest guides and protectors of the forests. The income generated from the homestay is used to fund the Horti Culture Society, where the villagers are trained in developing home vegetable gardens and generating income from it.

We provide opportunity for guests staying with us, to learn more about the village, meet people at work, spend time interacting with them and learning about the local culture and traditions.
